Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Counsel with minimum 10 years of experience in Real Estate practice to join our legal team. The role is predominantly liaisoning-focused, with a strong emphasis on coordinating with government authorities and centralising all external title search and compliance-related activities. The ideal candidate must be proactive, organised, and capable of independently managing procedural workstreams with precision and accountability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant should have the ability to:

  • Liaise extensively with government departments, revenue authorities, municipal bodies, registrars, BL&LRO offices, and other external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of all projects.

  • Centralise and oversee all external title search work, including engaging and coordinating with external searchers, where required, verifying document completeness, and ensuring consistency and quality of search reports across all matters.

  • Handle mutation and conversion applications, follow up on status, ensure compliance with procedural requirements, and coordinate with authorities for timely issuance of updated records.

  • Prepare and pursue RTI applications relating to land records, registrations, and other property-related information, and ensure proper collation and analysis of responses.

  • Facilitate amalgamation, bifurcation, and related land record rectification processes, ensuring all applications, documents, and submissions are complete, accurate, and in the prescribed format.

  • Maintain comprehensive trackers, case files, and documentation for all external processes, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely follow-ups.

Essential Criteria:

  • Must be a Graduate or Post-graduate from any recognised discipline. Candidate with LLB qualification will be preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Real Estate Law, Registration, Mutation, and Conversion Procedures.

  • Proficiency in reading Bengali deeds/documents.

  • Proficiency in digital legal tools, online filing, and government property registration platforms.

  • Self-motivated individual with a high sense of responsibility and ownership

  • Leadership: Assume a leadership role within the litigation department, providing strategic direction and guidance to associates and support staff

  • Client Representation: Represent clients in various litigation matters, including civil, criminal, and administrative cases, both at trial and appellate levels

  • Case Management: Oversee and manage a portfolio of complex litigation cases, ensuring that client matters are handled efficiently and effectively

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB). A master's degree would be an added advantage

  • Minimum 8 years of experience practicing law, with a proven track record in litigation

  • Enrollment as an advocate with the Bar Council of India

  • Proven track record of successfully handling complex litigation cases

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Partner to join and drive the growth of our Corporate Law, M&A and Private Equity Practice. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in advising on M&A, private equity, venture capital, corporate restructuring and commercial transactions, including deal structuring, due diligence, negotiations and execution.

The Partner will also be responsible for building and expanding the Firm’s corporate clientele, developing new relationships, generating business opportunities and strengthening the Firm’s presence in the corporate and transactional market. The role will also involve building and mentoring a strong team and contributing to the strategic growth of the Practice.

Kolkata is entering a new phase of business and investment activity, creating a strong opportunity for experienced professionals to build and grow a significant practice. The evolving business environment is expected to drive fresh investments, corporate expansion and strategic transactions across key sectors.   • The successful applicant will report directly to the Managing Partner.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, build and maintain strong client relationships and represent the Firm at industry events and conferences.

  • Provide strategic and commercially sound legal advice on general corporate matters, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.

  • Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth transaction processes.

  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations and industry trends to provide proactive and informed advice to clients.

  • Conduct legal training for internal teams and clients on corporate and M&A matters. Develop and maintain transaction playbooks and process documentation.

  • Spearhead billing and recovery processes for the Team.

  • Engage in business development initiatives for the Team and Firm and independently explore business development leads for the Firm.

  • At least 12 - 15 years of demonstrated success across M&A, PE/VC transactions with a nationally recognised law firm
