The Union Cabinet has approved changes to Press Note 3 vide press release dated 10 March 2025, which regulates foreign direct investment in India by investors from land bordering countries, both directly and indirectly.

Vide the press release the government has sought to provide clarifications to existing ambiguities, while easing indirect investment from investors of land bordering countries. Expedited approval process for certain key sectors has also been specified. These changes are likely to transform the FDI landscape in India.
